The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation encourages the pursuit of education and self improvement by awarding scholarships to extraordinary young leaders.

Sweet and Simple Scholarship

SERVICES MEMBERS MEDIA CONTACT Search National High School Oratorical Contest Scholarship

Different speech contest that vary by state. The contest chairman introduces each contestant, then announces the title of the contestant’s prepared oration.

Eligibility:

Eligible participants must be citizens of or lawful permanent residents of the United States. All contestants must be bona fide students herein described as any student under the age of 20 years on the date of the national contest who is presently enrolled in a high school or junior high school (public, parochial, military, private or home school). The curriculum of the school must be considered to be of high school level, commencing with grade 9 and terminating with grade 12. Students must be enrolled in high school or junior high school during the time of participation at any level of The American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest. Contestants must either be legally domiciled within or attend an educational institution within the department that they enter competition. Contestants can enter competition through only one department.

Award:

The overall national contest winner gets a $25,000 scholarship. Second place takes home $22,500, and third gets $20,000. Each department (state) winner who is certified into and participates in the national contest’s first round receives a $2,000 scholarship. Those who advance past the first round receive an additional $2,000 scholarship.

VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship

High school students have the opportunity to win 1,000-30,000 dollars in scholarship money. To enter, one must write an essay on a question relating to American democracy. The 2020-2021 theme is “Is this the country the founders envisioned?”

The Gates Scholarship

A highly selective last-dollar full scholarship for minority high school seniors. Scholarship will pay for the full cost of admission that is not already paid for by other financial aid, including tuition, fees, room and board, and books and supplies.

Eligibility:

Must be a high school senior, a minority, eligible for the Pell-Grant, a US citizen, national, or permanent resident, and a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship

The Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship provides 200 high-achieving high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in education the opportunity to earn a renewable scholarship of up to $7,500 each year for four academic years. In exchange, students agree to teach for five years at an eligible Indiana school or repay the corresponding, prorated amount of the scholarship.

Must be a current high school senior in Indiana.
