Fred Hutch Summer High School Internship Program

The Summer High School Internship Program (SHIP) is a competitive, eight-week, full-time paid internship for rising 12th graders. The program is specifically designed for students from backgrounds underrepresented in biomedical science. Selected interns attend an orientation day, then begin the internship with one week of hands-on training on laboratory safety techniques and skills in the Fred Hutch Training Labs. For the remaining seven weeks, interns are paired and immersed in mentored activities in a Fred Hutch research group in Seattle.

2021 Don’t mess with Texas® Scholarship Contest

The 2021 Don’t mess with Texas Scholarship Contest, in partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful, recognizes the achievements of high school seniors who have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their school and/or community. Any Texas high school senior planning to pursue a two- or four-year degree at an accredited college or university in the Fall of 2021 and currently attending public, private, or home school in Texas may apply.

BAFTX Susan Howard Community Service Award

In memory of Susan Howard, Founder of the British American Foundations of Texas, the Community Service Award honors young adults who have shown initiative and tenacity in conceptualizing, initiating, and/or organizing a community service project. Consideration is partially based on dependable annual household income.

Eligibility:

Be a resident of Texas and aged between 11 and 21

UTK: Business Education for Talented Students (BETS)

BETS is a 12-day residential program designed to introduce rising high school seniors from diverse backgrounds to the various fields of business. The program is open to underrepresented students, first-generation college students, and students on free or reduced lunch. Students must be entering the 12th grade with a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Design Discovery Young Adult at Harvard (DDYA)

A free immersive 4-week program at Harvard’s School of Architecture for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Participants are exposed to modeling, drawing, and representation techniques as well as problem solving skills necessary for the field of architectural design. DDYA is run by current Harvard graduate students, who teach participants through projects, discussions, and fast-paced design challenges.

Eligibility:

Must be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior in a Boston or Cambridge high school

UTK: Accounting and Information Management Academy

This four-day immersive experience provides students with an introduction to accounting and the different careers available in accounting. They’ll meet with a diverse group of business professionals to get insight into the field and even receive some college prep.

10th grade students only, underrepresented minorities

New England High School Journalism Collaborative Summer Workshop

A free residential program for high school students throughout New England. Participants spend a week working with professional reporters, editors, and photographers to write, edit, and edit for a newspaper, as well as produce products for a website.

Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship

Lockheed Martin launched the STEM Scholarship Program in 2018 as part of investment in the next generation of STEM talent. We are committed to providing access to pathways through education and into the STEM workforce for all students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds and communities historically underrepresented in STEM fields.

BMH Hospital Volunteering

Do you enjoy helping others? Do you have a few hours a week to spare? Yes? Then join the growing family of volunteers at Bryn Mawr Hospital! More than 500 volunteers, from high school students to retirees, dedicate their time to the hospital community, providing care and support that is truly unique to Bryn Mawr Hospital.

These Teens Mean Busine$$: Summer Internship

Intended for aspiring entrepreneurs, this internship gives teenagers the opportunity to work with local entrepreneurs in Madison, WI. Interns will see first hand what it takes to start and maintain a business, while also forming professional networks. Students must have participated in another course or program with TTMB.
