Next Gen Program

In Next Gen, students ages 14-17 will learn how to tell their own story and stories of people they care about through audio, video, game code design and animation using industry-standard equipment and software in a supportive, collaborative environment. Under the instruction of award-winning filmmakers, coders, animators, practicing artists, and musicians, Next Gen participants receive unparalleled technical training in a creative community of peers, along with opportunities for professional growth and direct access to industry professionals that includes client-project experience and a $250 stipend.

Applicants must be between 14-17 year old.

Mayor's Youth Council

A year-round civics engagement program where youth residents of Boston are appointed to be part of several committees to represent youth in Boston’s city government. Through the Mayor’s Youth Council, teens are able to have a voice in their city government, build a network of youth leaders, and become leaders in social justice.

Eligibility:

Must be a Boston resident in high school

Art Speak Internship

A paid internship program where public high school students are able to explore Asian art and cultural traditions. Students come in contact with local art prganizations, explore art careers, and gain leadership skills through activism within art-based workshops. Students also create art presented to the public, and communicate with young artists from around the country.

Eligibility:

Must be a high school sophomore, junior or senior residing in the Bay Area.

Summer Academy for Math and Science

"SAMS is an opportunity for students from underrepresented communities in the U.S. to learn about STEM fields, including math, biology, and physics. Students take courses, engage in projects, and receive mentorship from world-renowned faculty at Carnegie Mellon University.

U.S. Agricultural Library Internship

The National Agricultural Library (NAL) is always looking for bright, talented people to help develop innovative services, programs, and exhibits. Unpaid internships and volunteer opportunities are available across the library. Applicants can step into projects or opportunities NAL hopes to fill, or applicants can customize an internship or volunteer position to fit special interests or career goals upon request and subject to staff availability. High school students ages 16 and up are eligible to apply.

ACE Mentor Program

A nationally recognized extracurricular program for high school students in the Greater Boston area. Participants are mentored by construction managers, engineers, and architects as they are taught the basics of engineering design. Students work to develop their own building projects by the end of the program.

Up-Next Business Academy

Gives students from the Indiana community access to business opportunities and college preparation assistance. Participants will be able to network with professionals, participate in business activities, and learn more about Indiana University.

Eligibility:

Up-Next is for high school students from historically underrepresented groups, including students who identify as African-American, Latino/Hispanic, American Indian/Native American, or Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander. Applicants must be a high school student and have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

MICA Art & Design College Accelerator Program

Provides access to a quality art and design education for underrepresented high school students. Over the course of 3 years, participants complete 7 college courses, participate in a credit bearing art & design residency program, create a college admissions portfolio, and gain insight into art & design careers.
